The Department of Sociology was started in Khrawsing Christian College in 2008 with  Dr. Mrs. S. Ryndem as it’s first Head of Department. Initially with the annual system, the Department offered pass courses only. With the introduction of the semester system, the Department was upgraded to honours course. 

             Presently the Department comprise of four teachers some of whom have attended various training programmes offered by NEHU for teachers.

       The courses offered by the Department strives to train students to achieve a better understanding of social concepts like society, caste, family, kinship, various social processes, etc.       

              It will also help students gain understanding of theoretical knowledge and critically analyse the knowledge to understand social reality. Presently the Department has a total strength of  four faculty members.
