The Department of Environmental Studies was established in the year 2008 as a compulsory paper in the Annual system of the B.A degree course. In 2015, it was made a compulsory paper for the B.A 6th Semester students of the Semester system. With the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 in the year 2023 it was included as a Value Added Course (VAC) for the 1st semester students and continued till date.

                  Environmental studies as a multidisciplinary subject examines the interdependent relationships between humans and the environment. The department helps students in cultivating the expertise, confidence and empathy needed to tackle pressing environmental issues as students, activists, planners, storytellers and more. The course aims to provide knowledge and understanding of the natural environment, its importance and various environmental issues to the first year students of all disciplines.
